WFSC ICE SCULPTURES HIGH SCHOOL TEAM
NEW IN 2025-2026!

The 2025-2026 season marks the first year for the WFSC Ice Sculptures High School Team. The Team is a co-ed, competitive figure skating team made up of skaters from area high schools, coming together to form one team as a High School Collaborative / Combined Team. It is an inclusive team that allows skaters of all skill levels an opportunity to participate and be supported in a fun environment. The Team operates under the umbrella of the Waupun Figure Skating Club and is considered a High School Affiliated Club (HSAC). The team competes in the Wisconsin High School Skating Series of USFS.
USFS High School Skating Rules and Resources
Eligibility
- Must be a member or associate member of the Waupun Figure Skating Club in good standing
- Must be a member of US Figure skating in good standing.
- Must be currently enrolled full-time in grades 9-12 (traditional, home-school, or online).
- Must abide by all USFS and WFSC Code of Conduct, rules, and guidelines as set forth.
- Must adhere to school district rules, policies & requirements concerning student activities including, but not limited to, attendance, conduct, scholastic standing & other eligibility requirements as required of all school athletes.
- Must train under the supervision of a professional figure skating coach compliant with USFS requirements.
- Must complete Safesport training for all skaters 18yrs old.
Varsity Lettering Requirements
Members of our team may be eligible for a Varsity letter through their high school.
Our Team Manager will reach out to each skater's High School to determine if the school will participate.
- The Skater must inform the WFSC Team Manager of their intent to letter.
- The Skater must register with the athletic department in the school in which they attend (if required).
- The Skater must have a current sports qualifying physical form on file at their high school (if required).
- The Skater must pay an activity fee to their high school (if required).
- The Skater must attend all high school team practices (no more than 2 pre-approved absences).
- The Skater must volunteer 2 hours at the Waupun Ice Sculptures Figure Skating Competition in March.
- The Skater must perform at a High School Varsity level as follows:
- The Skater must practice a minimum of 40 hours on-ice during the WFSC skating season (October 1st - April 1st). This requirement is actual time dedicated to figure skating on the ice. (Open Ice, class, private lessons, team practice) Hours must be tracked and signed by a coach / board member. These hours can be completed / documented at WFSC or at your home club as long as your coach / a Board Member is willing to verify your time.
- The Skater must participate in at least 3 sanctioned High School competitions per skating season. There may be 4 competitions if the team qualifies for State.
- The Skater must attempt (not necessarily pass) at least one USFS skate test during the current USFS Member season, with the exception of any skater who has already passed one of the following:
- Intermediate / Pre-Silver Skating Skills,
- Intermediate / Pre-Silver Singles
- Intermediate / Pre-Silver Free Dance.
(A graduating senior, who has skated since at least 9th grade, and meets all of the above requirements, except for USFS testing requirement, will be eligible for a varsity letter)
The Skater is responsible for tracking their completion of all lettering requirements. Failure to keep track of requirements may result in a skater not receiving a varsity letter for the season.
The skater must submit all necessary documentation (testing form, competition results sheets, proof of ice time, etc.) to the WFSC Team Manager by 04/01/2026. The Team Manager will verify eligibility and forward the information to the skater’s high school Athletic Director.
Cost
You are responsible for providing your own equipment and paying for any team expenses necessary to participate.
$150 ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP FEE (if not a WFSC club member)

COMPETITION FEES
TEAM MANEUVERS: $150-$200 fee per level / per competition (Aspire, Bronze, Silver, Gold) Divided between all
participating team members in that level
PRACTICE ICE: $25 per competition: divided between the entire participating team
TEAM ENTERTAINMENT NUMBER: $80 per competition: divided between the entire participating team

We will be corresponding with the following High Schools to inquire about participation: Beaver Dam, Fond du Lac, Oakfield, Randolph, Markesan, CWC, New Berlin West. (Let us know if there is another school we should add to our list)
HS TEAM PRACTICES
- The HS Team season runs from October - March with the hopes of qualifying for the State Championship in March
- 1 hour weekly HS Team practice (tentative - Sunday nights)
- You are expected to attend team practices, on time, both on and off-ice as scheduled.
- If a skater is unable to attend practice, they will inform the team manager as soon as possible.
- Missed practices may result in the skater being ineligible to compete at the next competition and may result in the skater being ineligible to letter.
High School Competitions
The team must compete at 3 or more WI HS Series competitions to be eligible to place at the High School finals.
Skaters will be assigned to one of a possible four teams based on their singles test level and competition level.
ASPIRE TEAM (skaters may not have passed higher than the Preliminary Singles test)
- This level is best suited for skaters that compete Aspire through Preliminary Excel
BRONZE TEAM (skaters may not have passed higher than Pre-Silver Singles test)
- This level is best suited for skaters that compete Pre-Juvenile through Intermediate Excel
SILVER TEAM (No test restrictions)
- This level is best suited for skaters that compete Novice through Senior Excel
GOLD TEAM (no test restrictions)
- This level is best suited for skaters that compete Intermediate through Senior Well-Balanced Singles
You are expected to attend all team competitions & wear your team uniform
You are expected to show positive sportsmanship to teammates, coaches, judges, and competitors

TEAM MANEUVERS
TEAM ENTERTAINMENT NUMBER
Each school may do a routine for audience enjoyment. Emphasis should be placed on audience appeal. This event should include all team levels (Aspire, Bronze, Silver, Gold) from the high school team. It will be skated to vocal or instrumental music between 1 ½ minutes and 2 minutes long. There are no restricted or required elements. Skaters must wear their team uniform for this event. A separate award will be given for this event. This event is held in WI only.

GRADUATING SENIORS AWARD PROGRAM
The Graduating Seniors Award Program recognizes individuals graduating from high school who continued their training in figure skating while pursuing their academic studies. On behalf of the U.S. Figure Skating High School Programs Subcommittee, the program honors qualified graduates for their achievements during high school through the presentation of a certificate to the skater during a school function or recognition opportunity.
There are four level designations awarded within the program: bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Individuals receive awards based on their highest skating achievement (test or competition) during high school as noted on their application.
